In 2009 he introduced a new imaging technique to Australia. Having previously completed fellowships at the prestigious National Heart & Lung Institute, Royal Brompton Hospital London and the Thoraxcentre, the Netherlands. This method, called optical coherence tomography (OCT), uses laser light to scan inside the arteries of the heart and spot areas of disease and cholesterol plaques and is the best method to assess stents in the arteries. Peter leads national and international clinical trials and continues to attract considerable funding to head the cardiovascular innovations research team at the University of Melbourne.

He has published more than 130 peer-reviewed journal articles, is the editor/author of more than five textbooks and frequently features in the media discussing new developments in the treatment of heart disease. Frequently Asked Questions About Cardiologist Melbourne

Regular exercise helps arteries by boosting the endothelial cells' nitric oxide production. And research suggests it may even do more. In mice, exercise stimulates the bone marrow to produce endothelial progenitor cells, which enter the bloodstream to replace aging endothelial cells and repair damaged arteries.

The fermented juice may slow down the emptying of your stomach and prevent spikes in the blood sugar level. ACV consumption has also been proven beneficial in increasing insulin sensitivity. Drinking that concoction particularly at night can be more beneficial than having it any other time of the day.

Common dosage per day is 15-30 ml. Basically, 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar – mixed with water or made into a tonic or added to a salad dressing. My advice is to start with a tablespoon and then increase to 2 tablespoons if you don't notice any side effects.

Keep taking any prescribed medications and follow any recommended routines. Apple cider vinegar may play a role in lowering blood pressure, but more studies are needed. However, there don't appear to be any risks involved with using apple cider vinegar in moderation.

Although daily aspirin use has been shown to lower the chance of having a first heart attack or stroke, it can also increase the risk for bleeding in the brain, stomach, and intestines.

    Melbourne Cardiology Group

    melbourne cardiology group

    cardiologygroup.com.au

    (03)99644848

Melbourne Cardiology Group is committed to providing "personalized care," with you at the centre of everything.

Melbourne Cardiology Group's mission is to provide our patients with high-quality, evidence-based long-term cardiovascular care. The team is led by Associate Professor Gautam Vaddadi, a highly experienced cardiologist with leadership experience in both public and private hospitals.

We can perform a wide range of cardiac investigations using cutting-edge diagnostic technologies such as echocardiography and exercise stress echocardiography. In addition, we provide access to the most sophisticated procedures to treat many heart conditions in collaboration with our partners in both public and private hospitals.

Typically, a consultation is a face-to-face meeting with a cardiologist (heart specialist).

Telehealth may be utilized as a substitute (subject to government regulation). Typically, appointments last 30 to 45 minutes. A valid recommendation from a primary care physician or specialist is required to get a Medicare refund.

A consultation will include a detailed discussion about your health needs, emphasizing cardiovascular or heart care. To name a few, common symptoms or complaints that may necessitate a consultation include chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, and blackouts or dizzy spells.

You must bring the information to your appointment. Consider current test results, all of your prescriptions, and any home monitoring data, such as blood pressure readings, if you have a home monitoring device. Please inform our receptionists of any recent testing, especially blood tests, so that they can be collected prior to your consultation.

Your appointment will also include a comprehensive physical examination. You may be required to remove clothing to facilitate this, so wear loose, comfortable clothing. You may also require an electrocardiogram (ECG). An ECG will involve the placement of ten sticky electrodes, primarily on your chest, to allow us to examine your Heart more thoroughly.

Patients frequently require further echocardiogram, Holter monitoring for 24 hours, and exercise stress echocardiography. Our helpful team will assist you in scheduling the appropriate tests and will schedule your follow-up as determined by your cardiologist in conjunction with you.

This includes special pacemaker and electrical techniques, cardiac catheterization techniques, and many other procedures.

Not all patients with heart failure need a procedure, and not all patients needing a pacemaker or angiogram have heart failure. The majority of pacemakers that A/Prof Mariani implants and manages are in patients with electrical issues and not heart failure. However, he is able to manage both, which is convenient to patients, especially for complex technologies, such as cardiac resynchronization therapy and defibrillators.

    About Our Practice

A/Prof Mariani, with his team, aims to provide timely and expert care and medical advice for cardiological problems. For an appointment or for any queries, please contact his main rooms at (03) 99988300.

For outpatient consultations, A/Prof Mariani sees patients in consulting rooms. In this setting, simple and complex cardiovascular and internal medical issues are evaluated, and management plans are formed. This setting also allows time for planning for procedures such as coronary angiograms and pacemaker implantation. Some patients with complicated issues are followed long term to ensure optimal care. For other patients, the initial consultation may be all that is required to provide a framework for management for the patient and their referring doctor.

    Services

Being a consultant cardiologist means A/Prof Mariani sees and manages patients presenting with conditions of the heart and blood vessels. These can be established conditions (where we know the problem and are treating it and any further issues) or diagnostic problems which require further evaluation along with management.

Often cardiac conditions may present urgently - in this setting, A/Prof Mariani works in hospitals, including coronary care units, to manage these conditions along with other hospital staff. Sometimes these problems require invasive procedures, many of which A/Prof Mariani actively performs. Where he does not perform these procedures, for example, open-heart surgery or AF ablations, A/Prof Mariani works with other specialists such as cardiac surgeons and electrophysiologists to ensure the best outcome for patients and their families.

    About Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology dealing with catheter-based treatments for structural heart diseases. Interventional cardiology uses catheters for the diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases.

The catheter is a long, tubular, flexible instrument inserted through blood vessels in the radial artery in the arm, the femoral artery in the groin or neck, and threaded into the Heart. Inserting a catheter helps to assess the patient's heart condition. It can be used to repair a damaged heart valve or clear a clogged artery.

Some interventional cardiology procedures include coronary angioplasty (Stent), balloon valvuloplasty and cardiac ablation.
